ARTIST STATEMENT
Everyone enjoys desserts, whether cake, pies, cookies, ice cream, candy, or any variety of sweets. I am drawn to the precision and elegance of desserts displayed at bakeries and cafes. Every dessert I portray becomes a manifestation of either myself or someone I admire, capturing their complexity and intricacy. Too Sweet offers a taste of human beings' multifaceted and intricate nature through good, evil, love, hatred, religion, and forgiveness with the still life genre. The work celebrates material pleasure and the beauty of the mundane. For me, the still life extends an invitation for personal introspection and connection, leading to reflection on what is being presented through the brevity of human life.
